Final defendant in Magoffin meth and fentanyl conspiracy expected to plead next week

PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The final defendant in a federal case involving a conspiracy to distribute meth and fentanyl in Magoffin County has signaled his intention to enter a guilty plea.
Marvin Hunter Jr., 31, of Pontiac, Mich., filed a request this week that he be allowed to change his plea, saying he had reached an agreement with prosecutors.
Hunter was indicted last June along with Minnie Johnson, 60, and Jennifer Fletcher, 45, both of Elk Creek Road, in Magoffin County. All three were charged in connection with a conspiracy to distribute meth and fentanyl from August of 2021 to March of 2024.
Johnson and Fletcher both pleaded guilty back in March and are scheduled to be sentenced July 1. Because of the amount of drugs involved in the case, the women are facing a sentence of between 10 years and life in prison.
Hunter is scheduled to enter his plea in U.S. District Court in Lexington on Monday.
