SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — Things went from bad to worse for woman who rear-ended a motorcycle in Salyersville, when police discovered the car she had been driving had been reported stolen. Salyersville Police were called to West Maple Street just before 10 p.m. Monday, where they found a 2019 Toyota Camry on top of a motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries. Police then ran the car’s license plate and learned it had been reported stolen in Covington. Prestonsburg man accused of attacking wife with hands, remote control
PRESTONSBURG, Ky. — A Floyd County man was arrested after his wife said he assaulted her with his fists and a remote control. The case began just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, when a Prestonsburg Police officer spotted a car with a broken windshield and one working headline circling the Court Street and North Lake Drive area several times. He stopped the car on Arnold Avenue, in front of the library. Former teacher pleads guilty to soliciting minor
PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — A former Johnson County teacher has pleaded guilty to a charge of trying to solicit a minor. Kevin B. Conley, of East Point, a former social studies, geography and radio broadcast journalism teacher at Johnson Central High School, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of using an electronic device to procure a minor for sex. He pleaded guilty on the day he was scheduled to go on trial. Conley will be facing 1-to-5 years in prison when he is sentenced July 24.

Dickenson, Wise schools receive funding from ‘Secure Rural Schools’ program
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Morgan Griffith, of Virginia’s Ninth Congressional District, announced a $779,421 investment for Virginia students through the Secure Rural Schools program. The announcement follows the U.S. Forest Service’s decision to provide $248 million to U.S. communities through the program. The funds are meant to supplement payments in lieu of taxes.
