Governor takes action to restrict ‘gas station heroin’

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A drug known as “gas station heroin” because it is so new that stores have been selling it over the counter is going out of business in Kentucky. Gov. Andy Beshear signed an emergency regulation yesterday classifying the drug tianeptine as a Schedule I controlled substance. “Today, Kentucky became a safer place,” Gov. Beshear said. “Until now, someone looking for a heroin-like high could walk into certain places or buy this harmful product online. Hall loses appeal of child porn conviction

CINCINNATI, Ohio — A former Letcher County teacher who was sentenced to more than 30 years in prison in a child porn case has lost an appeal of the case. Charles Evans Hall Jr., 50, of Jackhorn, was convicted in 2021 on charges of producing child porn and cyberstalking. A jury determined that Hall groomed one of his students to send him pornographic Snapchat images while he was a middle school teacher. He was also found to have tried to intimidate the girl into destroying evidence. He was ultimately sentenced to 370 months in prison and ordered to pay the […]
