HAZARD, Ky. — Through its EKY STEM Ecosystem Initiative, Rural Up recently hosted two free STEM professional development opportunities designed to help K–5 educators bring engaging, standards-aligned STEM learning experiences into their classrooms. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville man accused of possessing child pornography is asking a federal judge to throw out the evidence against him, arguing that police violated his constitutional rights when they seized and searched his cellphone. Terry Weston Rogers, 30, is charged in U.S. District Court with knowingly possessing material depicting a prepubescent minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct. PAINTSVILLE, Ky. — Paintsville Police arrested a man early Friday morning who they say was holding a woman at knifepoint when they arrived.; Police were called to Elite Apartments just after midnight Friday over a report of a man assaulting a woman. Matewan man arrested two years after indictment for assaulting Pike deputies
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Mingo County man has been arrested two years after he was indicted on charges related to an altercation with police. Trellis Ray Cisco, 48, of Matewan, was originally arrested in June of 2024, following an incident that occurred during a traffic stop. Cisco was pulled over for operating an ATV on U.S. 119. During the stop, he was unable to provide police with a license, insurance or registration and allegedly gave them a false name. Appeals court rules Pike board has immunity in school bus crash lawsuit
PIKEVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Court of Appeals has overturned a Pike Circuit Court ruling that allowed a lawsuit against the Pike County Board of Education to proceed following a 2023 collision involving a school bus. The appellate court ruled the school board is protected by governmental immunity and sent the case back to Pike Circuit Court for further proceedings.
