PIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pikeville man was sentenced to five years in prison, following his conviction on charges related to sending inappropriate messages to a teen. Curby Tackett, 35, pleaded guilty to using a computer to procure a minor for sexual activity and tampering with physical evidence back in May.  He was arrested in April of 2025, after a woman reported him to police for sending a nude photo to her 15-year-old cousin.The picture had been sent through Facebook Messenger as part of a conversation between the two. WHITESBURG, Ky. — The prosecution and defense have proposed sharply different locations for the trial of former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Mickey Stines, after a judge ruled the case must be moved from Letcher County. Stines is charged in the shooting death of Letcher County District Judge Kevin Mullins inside the Letcher County Courthouse in September 2024.
